Lasagna recipe here
Mom’s Lasagna
The kids and grandkids always ask me to make this for them. Homemade meat sauce, and lots of cheese!
Equipment
- 1 17×12" pan
- 1 Large stock pot
Ingredients
- 2 lb Ground chuck or Ground round
- 1 large Onion
- 4 cloves Garlic
- 2 6 oz cans Tomato paste
- 2 28/29 oz cans Crushed tomatoes
- 2 28/29 oz cans Tomato sauce
- 3 tbsp Italian seasoning
- 1 tsp Salt
- 1-2 pkg Oven ready lasagna noodles
- 2 15 oz cartons Ricotta cheese (or cottage cheese)
- 2 Eggs
- 3 tbsp Sugar
- Grated parmesan cheese
- 2 16 oz pkg Shredded mozzarella cheese
Instructions
Sauce (use large stockpot)
- Mince onion and garlic and sauté until soft. Remove from pan.
- Brown ground beef and drain grease off.
- Add onion and garlic.
- Add tomato paste and 4 cups of water. Mix until blended
- Add crushed tomatoes and tomato sauce plus 3 tbsp sugar.
- Add the 3 tbsp Italian seasoning plus salt and pepper to taste. Don't over season. After the sauce has cooked for several hours taste and add more if needed.
- Cook sauce over low heat for two hours. Stir frequently so it doesn't burn.
- If the sauce seems too thick add additional water. The lasagna noodles will absorb quite a bit of water.
Filling
- After the sauce is done mix together ricotta cheese, eggs and 1 tbsp Italian seasoning.
